For this prompt the erase from history button here is ambiguous so I don’t know if this is an everyone has or just me, I will assume everyone.
Honestly, I do not think I would erase any event, because as much as erasing that one event would help in the moment you never know what you would unleash by it. If I were stop say some event, Say hitler from being born, what is to say that by doing that the people that influenced hitler would influence someone else and make a super hitler.
I live by the mantra of it is what it is. The idea that one event being erased just does not have appeal to me because I while I cant wonder how much worse of better it would be, It has the same appeal of “bad genie” wishes. Even the show family guy touches on this when Brian stops 9/11 and things turn out much worse. What is to say by stopping one event that you are making another event better, in the philosophical context if one stopped the Titanic from sinking what is to say you save the ship but, but someone from that ship becomes an event 10x worse than the original event. Say by stopping the Titanic sinking, one of the survivors drives Alexander Fleming on a different career route – that alone would make a tragedy that makes the original incident minor in comparison. I feel like if we all had a delete button for the one moment of hindsight for a personal thing vs the history eraser that is limited to short term the implications would be much more limited.
But if I were forced to change a singular event, I guess that would be a card I would hold on to for a singular moment. The prompt is not particular to anything and history is what we make it. I mean my end point still has all the danger of the original theory , but here’s the thing if we had a short term eraser , Even if i hit delete on an event someone could countermend me. Ironically, with the prompt the way it is, Everything would just happen the way it was meant to happen. Schrodinger’s cat would still be alive and dead in the box, and the scientist trying to figure out quantum supposition is still trying to figure it out. Funnier is the factor something like this would confirm the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics.
