Let the market cannibalization begin – Meta fires 14k people…

In order to show some sort of profit, meta is firing 10000 people and closing 6000 open positions, This is biting off your arm to save your foot.

Meta said on Thursday it plans to lay off roughly 10% of its workforce, or about 8,000 people, the latest in a string of tech industry layoffs fueled in part by artificial intelligence.

The company is also closing around 6,000 open roles, Janelle Gale, Meta’s chief people officer, wrote in a memo published by Bloomberg that Meta confirmed to CNN.

This is insane. They are firing workers to replace with AI , the problem is AI can’t walk, it can’t improvise its position, and lastly without AI the only innovation they get is AI hallucination.

The company has also been splurging on talent for its superintelligence lab and has acquired buzzy AI startups like Moltbook and Manus as part of its ongoing efforts to compete with OpenAI and others.

The problem here is that in the past Meta had people working on all sorts of things. now they are doing a ground level overfocus and are putting all of the eggs into one basket and I feel like the payoff is not going to be what meta wants. Give or take companies are all jockeying for position to hit the innovation jackpot on AI. the problem is most of the companies that are playing the CAPEex game is doing it by scaling and not code.

Amazon said in January it would lay off 16,000 workers, its second large-scale layoffs in three months, emphasizing the need for efficiency. fintech firm Block’s announcement in February that it would lay off 40% of its workforce, more than 4,000 people, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted at the start of this year that the company, which has invested heavily in AI, could see workforce changes because of the technology. On Meta’s January earnings call, he called 2026 “the year that AI starts to dramatically change the way that we work.”

“We’re starting to see projects that used to require big teams now be accomplished by a single very talented person,” Zuckerberg said.

Here’s my counter-point to this, You fired 16000 positions, if this person is supposedly replacing that many workers, what happens when your Very Talented Person gets sick? Or, a power outage? Or, LLM data loss. Now if your Very Talented Person gets sick your output goes from 14000 to … 1 , Whereas before one person gets sick your output goes from 14000 to 13999. And lets just say for instance the person that would of replaced your Very Talented Person makes an innovation that improves working by triple, you end up having your Replacement guys efficiency 13999 to 41,997.

Like many big tech companies, Meta eliminated tens of thousands of jobs in 2022 and 2023, reductions that were largely attributed to right-sizing after Covid-era spikes in usage and hiring. Last year, the company said it would cut about 5% of what it called its “lowest performers,” although it planned to backfill many of those roles.

This is not right-sizing, this is full on cannibalization, Everyone is jumping for the AI goldrush while some chinese man in his garage is laughing at the Cape-ex and deepseeking the best coffee ideas.

Meta destroys the AI powered worlds to make the LLM world.

It would seem like Meta is the first to throw in the towel with their announcement of the Meta horizon worlds is going to be retired as of June, This was a platform powered by slop. The Idea of building a universe with AI was a bad idea in general. WIth that you would end up with places such as 6 7 land or some shit like that. Most people do not get the astronomical waste that AI in its current from is , for a child to make some 67 slop video that is 60 seconds long it uses the an insane amount of energy! The Same energy required to boil a tea kettle 240 times or charge your iPhone from 0% to $100% every day for three years or a “personal massager for 50 days straight. That amount of power could power a 144 Lumen Ultrabright Portable LED Work Light/Flashlight from Harbor Freight for 6000 hours! You could play the Nintendo Switch continuously for 1,714 hours.

Worse yet, Meta claims they are going to focus on AI. Facebook, Horizon worlds have a large problem, AI brain rot. people are fleeing from AI chats. because, do you really need a sycophantic chat person never to criticize you if you are doing something stupid.

When you are a multibillion dollar company and you fail copying VRchat, and Instead you decide to pump the AI balloon some more with LLM. Meta is likely seeing the explosive “growth” in AI which is nothing more than the .com bubble of the 90’s. The thing is as far as most AI right now when people are done with making slop or AI gets enough rules where unregulated slop can not be made anymore, People are going to stop using it. Right now AI is available to the elites or bored enough to pay for the LLMs. Once we hit market saturation the millions of AI’s will start dying a dime a dozen. In the Enterprise adoption of generative AI has hit 71%. but, over 80% of companies report zero measurable impact on their bottom line. As of right now we are seeing a utility gap where the cost of using the AI exceeds the costs of its output. Companies in its wild adaption are finding out the hidden costs of hardware, Repair, upkeep and electricity.

Meta Horizon worlds had problems with this exact issue , user generating slop and diluting the product into nothing. So to which end VR ends like the 3dTV with actually a higher user base. They are wasting an entire platform when they should of integrated the biggest advantage they had in user market base. Don’t kill of meta horizon worlds, Instead keep the AI there, Focus on making an AI which can overlay the Quest 3 with AR, They could integrate the headset a a visual learning device, they could use it to get directions In the wilds of the cities while hot spotted to your phone. Say things like Chiltons car service manual, showing you what screws to remove or how to replace your spark plugs. Lego with instructions on how to put together your lego Death Star. the options in AR are limitless.

Sure, you’ll look like a goofy bastard, but you’ll be a goofy bastard who knows exactly where he’s going and how to fix his own car. WIth the use of AI you could have an interactive LLM telling you that you dropped a screw or missed a turn.

Update: Meta has partially reversed there shutdown and left Worlds in a Schrodinger’s state of life.

I keep saying I need to post more…..

Its been months since I’ve actually posted consistently.

I have my reasons as my life has been one thing after another… but, I am going to try to get back to this at a regular basis.  For one.. I’d rather post here. While facebook is an option its kind of like being in a dog park… Everyone is sniffing your ass wondering what you are doing and whether they agree with you or disagree they blow smoke up your ass if they think your position on things is not in line with theirs.  I don’t need that, I really don’t give a fuck if you find my posts on coffee or other stuff offensive.  I’m me I’ll post what I want how I want and that is all there is too it.

I’ve always disliked facebook because if someone finds your post offensive to them they can cause trouble…. Mainly you have no creative control over your posts, No style , No way to keep your posts to your target. Sure the website is come one come call , but if you don’t like it … At least on this end of things unlike facebook it does not keep post vomit in your face.  Nor do I have to constantly fool with settings inside facebook. I am not going to make it where there is “friend system”. Facebook in it self is a disaster of code. I do not give ten fucks if you need 1023823 friends to get a chicken on your farm to fuck a leopard to get a land expansion.  I like simplicity .

As it stands with facebook it is likely everyone of the post you make are analyzed and sold off to marketers.  In reality facebook is more like test to see how you respond to certain stimuli.  If you took Pavlov’s Dogs and applied it to facebook it would unsurprisingly fit will……

In his initial experiments, Pavlov presented a stimulus and then gave the dog food; after a few repetitions, the dogs started to salivate in response to the bell. Pavlov called the stimulus the conditioned (or conditional) stimulus (CS) because its effects depend on its association with food.

Now lets see how facebook works on the same logic.

Facebookline

In  initial experiments, Facebook presented a stimulus and then gave the Human a like; after a few repetitions, the Humans started to Post in response to the like. Facebook called the stimulus the conditioned (or conditional) stimulus (CS) because its effects depend on its association with Liked Post.

Fucking fantastic to know facebook just wants you to be their dog to just get more information out of  you.  Privacy issues aside which are extreme. Facebook sucks, I’ve given up posting there. I will keep my postings here and if you find them and like them that’s fucking great.

Facebook is a step back in the age of the internet, Its going back to the bottleneck days of everyone has a portal and is stuck in there own prisons  like AOL / Compuserve… Mostly to keep you in there own small toxic universes until they melt down and the users get fucked with a roadcone sideways.

All I have too say is…
