Happy thanksgiving

well today is thanksgiving and Peter, Anna and Andreas have travelled back to Sweden on Monday, the Morning after they left i woke up sort of confused as to what to do rather than having something to do. The time they have spent here i had alot of fun, From our trip to New York , Boston than Lincoln. Also I cant forget Donny

One of the weirder things i did while on this trip was pay attention to what coffee was around, generally in boston it was carpet bombed with dunkin donuts and Starbucks. but there was a silver lining to the coffee side of things if you are in boston. Honey Dew Donuts DOES EXIST there, on the morning we went to salem, at the South station i spotted Honey dew donuts and thought i died. After 2 days of dunkin donuts seeing a honey dew was like finding a diamond.  Dunkin donuts has Literally clusterfucked boston with shops.

“Dunkin’ Donuts lookin’ out for java lovers” Are they trying to find some ….

Or are they kidnapping them and forcing them to forms of torture that they wouldn’t even do in Guantanamo bay? Dunkin Donuts has been known for serving coffee that taste like burnt ass or as bluesteel would say my old cesspool.  Apparently they have a special going on which i find kind of funny since this article states that dunkin donuts is looking out for the java loving joe

From the article,

When times are tough and money’s tight – don’t despair, Dunkin’ Donuts has your back.

For a moment i thought to myself Interesting but, I read further..

Today the coffee giant ushers in an era of cheap lattes to get you through the afternoon energy slump. Starting this afternoon, DD will offer 99-cent small lattes between the hours of 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., available in caramel, mocha or pumpkin. It’s apparently available for a “limited time only.

Look closely at that… somethings wrong… Oh yeah No normal person can get a coffee in those hours unless they work 2nd or 3rd shift,  I can see that fly at an office “hey boss I’m going to get myself a cheap coffee at dunkin, ok?” as the boss glares at you and says sit down asshat and drink the office coffee. Although I think the final comment was the kicker..

And check this out to read about other ways New Yorkers are cutting costs as the economy crumbles

Just what we need, people tweaked out on coffee as the stock market goes in the toilet or is that goes to the toilet after having cheap dunkin donuts latte?  My thought on this is Ditch the dunkin and either make your own coffee or find a local mom and pop coffee shop, often times there cheaper and will apprecaite your money alot more than dunkin donuts or starbucks would.

McSpresso…… Either Mcdonalds is getting into espressos or you just sneezed while vomiting.

So Mcdonalds is getting into the espresso market Starbucks style?  Why.. Bad food and bad coffee, the commercials are worse showing “starbucks” people talking about Mcdonalds coffee and than running there.. No so much.  Yes I hate starbucks and mcdonalds but hell this is pathetic. Just the name Mcdonalds incites poor thoughts, Mcjob, McPay, McWork, McBadCoffee, McFoodPoisoning. Starbucks is ripe for being made fun of , Stuckup fruitcakes there…

Whats with all these companies getting into other far out concepts for there business types, dunkin donuts serving pizza. Whats next KFC doing shoe shines and pressing your pants while you wait with a hummer on the side?

This has to stop, If you cant get what you originally serve in the first place right , dont try to serve some other aweful product until you have your product right.

StarSucks Closings

Been too long since i’ve last updated but i caught this little bit in the new, From the boston globe that Starbucks isn’t doing so well.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – One coffee drinker’s bad news is another coffee drinker’s good news, it seems.

Financial woes at Starbucks Corp <SBUX.O>, which is planning to close 600 underperforming U.S. stores, is evoking glee and little sympathy from aficionados who say they resent the coffee shop giant and favor small independent cafes.

Its sad to see coffee places close but as far as starbucks goes.. I cant really give any sympathy myself for this.  There expansion was at breakneck speed and in the end it was there own fault.  I’ve been in Starbucks on Occasion , When theres no other coffee within miles. But you can see why Starbucks fucked up, google maps shows it perfectly.

Like why the hell are there 3 starbucks within 2000 feet of each other. Its like someone went on a bombing run of Providence with Starbucks all in a straight line.

seriously there cant be that many uppity people in providence that need there starbucks that bad. but there way of putting up stores is just bad.

I’d hate to say it but if you look at dunkin donuts its much more logical than starbucks…

Honey Dew Donuts… STOP CHANGING Damnit.

Usually when bluesteel and I go for coffee we goto honey dew donuts , which until recently was fairly consistent. but Recently they have pulled certain flavors of coffee that are more popular. Firs they went from flavored coffee to flavored shots, which to there defense was not as bad as dunkin donuts version but still it makes a big difference in coffee taste. Than they pulled one of there more popular flavors for the iced mudslide coffee crap. more over the shots of espresso have gone from 50cents to 1$ , That kind of pissed me off, its bait and switch . get people buying your product than jam the price up when you realize its fairly popular.

the problem here is with each change they are taking the dunkin donuts method of things. automate the fuck outta EVERYTHING , to the point you can NEVER get your coffee right. if you even try to get a coffee thats anything but regular there is a 99% chance that dunkin donuts will fuck it up because its hit a button for regular hit a button for extra , which to different people mean different things. plus having the whole process machined and automated takes away from your coffee.

Honey Dew donuts is slowly following the line that Dunkin Donuts took and thats a dangerous path. Bluesteel and I avoid Dunkin like the plague.

The latest change is the iced capachino, they went from making the mix to a machine , the machine version taste like coco puffs, its rather terrible.

Hopefully more people will notice and Actually complain about it because this is really starting to make some bad coffee there.

Coffee Opinion From the San Francisco chronicle

Dunkin donuts around here is Swill, if you ask any of my friends they generally shy away from most dunkin donuts as do i, since dunkin donuts has invaded the super market isles I’ve yet to hear about how there coffee is, this is where west coasters come to save the day. Stacy Finz of the San Francisco Chronicle has put the coffee to the test.

The article starts off on the fact they have sampled the coffee before on trips to the East Coast.

The West Coasters in the Food department who had tasted it on past trips to New York and New England were frankly not that impressed, which of course led to heated debates with the East Coasters in the office.

Personally if i had a time machine thats the only way I’ve known to get a good coffee from dunkin donuts. Likely Denis Leary can back me up on this one… as the article goes on to explain that they did an informal blind taste test , dunkin donuts was the least favorable of the coffees presented

In an informal blind tasting, the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee turned out to be our least favorite, with most of us leaning toward Tully’s and Peet’s.

The opinion in the end made me laugh because its right on..

Thin, weak and lackluster,” was the way one staffer described it. Others thought it was typical office coffee – fine, but nothing distinctive.

between bluesteel and myself we always go out of the way to find good coffee. Dunkin donuts was that at one point in history but not so much now.. if you think the supermarket branding is not so well watch out for local ones around where i live.

From: San Francisco Chronicle

Dunkin Donuts spreading coffee around the world… scary thought.

Apparently dunkin donuts is going to china, they plan on opening 100 shops in Shanghai. I used to like Dunkin a very long time ago, until they business formula change and they pretty much just hired robot tending zombies and could not get a coffee right to save there lives. Many nights of getting coffees from Dunkin Donuts that just have gone wrong with coffee that you could either run in terror from or made so wrong that carrot top looks normal. they have gone the way of mcdonalds, Serving warmed shit(although mcdonalds gets an exception- you need to goto Sweden to actually get a burger that is edible compared to its US counterpart). Mostly my friends and I goto honey dew donuts, there you get people who know what you want before asking rather than the blank look you’d get going into a DD. So who knows.. MAYBE just maybe good coffee is out of the country but the judge is out on this one.

I’ve heard of Diets high in iron but this is a little excessive.

Yet another reason i dont goto dunkin donuts anymore.

Coffee and a metal chip muffin, please!

A morning breakfast treat turned into a painful trip to the dentist for an Avon gas station owner when, he says, he bit into a hard chunk of metal inside a Dunkin’ Donuts chocolate chip muffin.
