Wi-Fi Health Weirdness Continues
The German Wi-Fi ban that wasn’t…

There’s been no solid scientific evidence that Wi-Fi is a health hazard, but that hasn’t stopped a parade of people from trying to stop Wi-Fi deployment, usually based on absolutely no evidence of any kind. In the U.S., teachers have sued schools to derail installs, while angel guidance consultants have launched campaigns against Wi-Fi in their free time.

In Canada, some colleges have even banned Wi-Fi after equating it to “second hand smoke.” Meanwhile in the UK, some say they can feel the impact when they enter a room, while others have started using Wi-Fi blocking paint (at $492 per can) and sleep under silver plated mosquito netting.

The raving weirdness in the UK isn’t helped by the UK’s Independent, which has a history of penning fear packed pieces about the dangers of Wi-Fi. They’re back this week with a new report claiming the German government issued a ruling suggesting that all citizens avoid using Wi-Fi:

“Its surprise ruling – the most damning made by any government on the fast-growing technology – will shake the industry and British ministers, and vindicates the questions that The Independent on Sunday has been raising over the past four months. And Germany’s official radiation protection body also advises its citizens to use landlines instead of mobile phones, and warns of “electrosmog” from a wide range of other everyday products, from baby monitors to electric blankets.”

Which would be really, really scary — were it not for the fact the actual ruling (pdf, via) is really just a Q&A and makes no “ruling” of any kind. Those who insist on worrying despite a total lack of scientific evidence might want to invest in faraday underpants. We’ve heard that buying an additional pair for your head provides extra safety!

Ok, just how much crack are people on. all these news organizations spreading fud about WIFI. OMFG ITS GONNA KILL US, Its gonna fry your cats kill your hamster and start calling you george.

The Environment Ministry recommended that people should keep their exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi “as low as possible” by choosing “conventional wired connections”. It added that it is “actively informing people about possibilities for reducing personal exposure”.

has the world become retarded? i mean really bud. how the fuck long has the human race been exposed to the same signal
RADAR,Cordless phones, Microwave Ovens. 50 years of exposure of signals in the same area and now wifi suddenly is bad and not the rest?

wifi occupies the 2.4ghz band, which has been the area of a great many devices. Cordless phones. remote control devices.

heres a good comment by jeff and the state of the media who report this stupid shit.
Jeff Ski: but back then they didn’t have rabid media corporations

if you go on the media stories. they never state the facts ever, that there has been no findings that these signals affect people.

The UK’s Health Protection Agency considers there is no consistent evidence of harm from the low power transmissions of Wi-Fi equipment. Nevertheless their chairman, Sir William Stewart, stated that it is a sensible precaution to keep the situation under review.[8] Two media items (the latest in an episode of the current affairs television program Panorama in May 2007) reported that schools and families have been removing their Wi-Fi systems as a result.[9] Individual anecdotes of deleterious effects which ceased upon removal of the systems have also been reported including headaches and lethargy.[9] Consensus amongst scientists is that there is no evidence of harm, and the continuing calls for more research into the effects on human health remain limited. Thirty-seven studies have already been conducted that do not show a causal relationship.[9][10]

Bad science drives me nuts. Every day we are bombarded by all kinds of radiation. the sun, the earth, the human body, thunderstorms, dirt….

one woman claims that she can not have Wifi in her house due to the getting sick and claims if she uses her microwave she gets extremely bad burns. Microwaves are protected by faraday cages. if you read what faraday cages do. you would scream that she has a faulty microwave.
