Capital One… What was in your wallet….

How to start this…

Capitol one blows Goats

Back  on November 5th , I called about inquiring on changing a payment due to capitol one making my payment date change. Since i am on Social Security, I normally pay all my bills at the beginning of the month. due to the Oddness of capitol ones business I’d often pay on the 4th to have the payment applied on the 2nd of the month which made no sense to me what so ever. Anyways, I was given Assurances that the pay date would change and the current payment would apply for the month. After that call feeling everything was taken care of I felt everything was going to be OK.. And how wrong i was.

The next month .. I goto pay my bills and i find my account has a few charges and fees I was not expecting, One fee for being put over the limit than another fee for late payment that I was assured would not happen, So i made my payment again, to which the payment for this month was applied to the last months payment that i supposedly did not make but was assured it was all set. So i call capitol one again (12/5/07) asking what has happened. after talking to the first person i get transfered to another person. speaking to them with the whole situation , fees/requesting payment change day (Again)/ and about current months payment which was much higher than previous months payment.

First i was told they would remove the fees assessed for the second time, than after a bit i was told the fees were declined from being removed. I explained i have been calling since October with these problems and I told the person to note these things in the computer, not sure if they were just passing me off. Capitol one representative than Said they would issue you me a courtesy -50$ off my account for my problems.

(12/21/07) i call back and notice that they have not given my fees back  nor have they applied the current months payment , instead they apply it to November to which i was told, that also fees were also declined from being removed from my account. at this point i am starting to panic . at this point my mother also speaks to the person and she pays my bill . she gives her account info for her savings, and pays 75 dollars on my bill which brings me up to date with current.

(12/26/07) I go out in the morning to get something using a gift card i received for Christmas, got some lunch, figured I’d go get a coffee but i got a feeling to check my savings account, I was aware of what the balance should of been since i have a piece of paper in my wallet and keep a fairly accurate mental balance in my head but i just wanted to be sure, I goto a local ATM , put in the pin, than proceed to get my account balance to which i lost my mind to, on the paper it said (236.53)- . Me immediately sensing trouble went to the branch and tell the person working that there’s a fairly big problem with my account an that there is money missing, looks it up and says " sir your quite over drawn". I hold my self steady and ask . how in the world could i be over drawn , show the piece of paper and pretty much rattle off the balance that i  knew was correct, thinking i ask  could you print up the last transactions from the account.

Looking at the paper i immediately spot the problem

### Phone authorization/Capitol One 75.00 12/24/07

I point that out , explain that i never had authorized this and asked if there could be anything done about the fees that were building on the point of capitol ones fault, since they never were given permission to take from the account.

He has me fill out an affidavit to which say i never authorized this , and that it will be investigated , if Proven the fees will be reversed along with the 75 dollars they removed from my account. I head home thinking what to do.

I get home immediatly call Capitol One and ask what the hell they did to my account and they never had authorization to remove funds from my banking account, and the funds that should of been withdrawn was from my mothers account. I get immediatly transfered up the line. I repeat the whole sitaution asking why funds that were taken from my account were , the fact they never had authorization and also that i had my bank investigating this as well. I get put on hold while he "checks out what has happened" about 5 minutes later he comes back from the hold and his demenor has changed , almost every sentence starts with "sorry" or "we are sorry" . I tell him that due to the situation my savings account is completely trashed *at the time of the call -331.80*. My mother also is on the line asking what has happened and the fact im on socail security and more than half my income for the next month is already gone due to there fuckup. at this point he says sorry again and tells me to have  my bank send a copy of the funds taken from my account + fees taken because of this .

I have a real feeling they fucked up here but the matter is do i trust them to right a wrong when they have not come through 2 other times in a row?

Wii would like to play..

I posted a really short comment. In October about me ending up getting a Wii, Now, i had been Debating on a console system for months and was fairly decided but money was an issues and finding one was also an issue. Around the holidays which are here now. Finding a Wii is about as likely finding bigfoot.

I managed to get extremely lucky when i had got mine last month at the begining of october. I had been in best buy for another reason and just for the hell of it i asked the blue shirt with the expected answer of "we don’t have one". I figured I’d go up the road to Target and when i was walking down the isle i noticed 3 boxes and i thought they may of been displays. I Had to ask twice, And they were indeed real, Knowing that how hard it is to acquire I ended up borrowing some money to get it. Since then I’ve not seen one for sale since.

As far as fun the system kicks ass, and my major complaint about gaming in the last couple of years is that, the focus on gaming has been on making a pretty picture with basicly no controls. all graphics No fun. I’ve seen the other systems and the expense to me just doesnt make sense when i have a PC. my Main complaints for consoles are

1. most are insanely expensive

PS3 = 400$ (no games inc. accessories you have to pay even more for. Lack of games.

Xbox360 = 300$ to 400$ +35$ for online play (Not to sure how it works out with other stuff, but most games are eventaully ported over to the PC from this system so pointless to buy into)

Wii = $249 the Cheapest and most fun i’ve had with console gaming in a very long time.

2. Games

Ps3 = lack of games, Lack Of interesting games + Used to Have backwards compatibility but removed.

Xbox360 = since most games come to the PC – no real need to have since 90% of the games come over to the PC , and really Halo Does not appeal to me since its just a slowed down version of Unreal tournament (Halo doesnt even come close to the fun of unreal tournament)

Wii = ALot of games whole game cube library + Wii games availible , nintendo normally has different games than the above two systems so its a more unique experence.

*All systems = Fuck Guitar hero with a baseball bat. its retarded, ITs a guitar simulator simulator , wow You simulate someone whos simulating a guitar… Pick up a real instrument you sissy. if you want something more interesting and to actaully learn music rather than playing dance dance revolution for your fingers try "Jam Sessions" for the nintendo DS.

3. Controls

Ps3 = Tried and true controller setup, only exception was when nintendo announced the wii controls and they delayed there controller to attempt a motion control setup themselves. SUXAXIS was put on after the fact removing the Dual shock- which was quoted from sony that both could not be on the controller or some silly shit.

Xbox = appears like the older gravis control pads. I’ve not personally tried to out the xbox controls but im sure its works.

Wii = Completely Unique system of control, brings very interesting gameplay and adaptions to gameplay.. gesture based system does make some really fun games. I could go on and on how actaully interacting with the game rather than Inputing actions into the game and reacting makes a huge difference.

4. Graphics

PS3 – some really nice visuals at times but really most of the time games are not much better than the 360

Xbox360 – same as above but reverse the comment. both systems are pretty much equals to each other.

Wii – I’ve not seen many games I could compare to the other systems but It gets down to my Final comment. Graphically it has lesser than the above two systems but in the same comment the games are more involving . Less eye candy more dimension.

5. Fun

Im not going to compare each system down. Reasoning is it would just be a flogging of epic proportions, theres only so far that PS3/xboxs dated controls can go , and there basically running on running on a control set thats 20 years old. To me graphics do not mean Everything. Sure you can make it look "pretty" but 90% of the time you know when something looks "good" as far as a game you know it controls like ass. there are notable exceptions to that.

Gamewise you get more involved , You dont get bored off your ass watching someone else play. Even thinking sporting games golf is like golf on the wii , bowling is like bowling. First person shooters even have a strangely appealing system of use on the wii. by Far the system thats the most interactive and Fun in the same sentence I’d say is the Wii .

I’ve picked up only a few games so far but I forsee myself picking up other games as well as they come out. I’ve Really liked how the system works as you can see above and the future will see more responce out of me.

Lack of Updates.

hmm I’ve not been paying attention to much to the site and i kinda forgot about the site for a bit. stuff has been a bit crazy around here so its hard to keep everything going. Smiley

Social Security …my take on it…

Bush Admin. Urges Social Security Fix

By MARTIN CRUTSINGER – 1 day ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration said in a new report
Monday that Social Security is facing a $13.6 trillion shortfall in
coming years and that delaying reforms is not fair to younger workers.

A report issued by the Treasury Department said that some
combination of benefit cuts and tax increases will need to be
considered to permanently fix the funding shortfall. But White House
officials stressed that President Bush remains opposed to raising taxes.

ahhh social security, How do i know thee. since the 2nd term of George W., He’s had his eye on this issue, but was not able to mess with the system *yet* for the people who stand to make money off it. And right off in starting with this article they are already messing with average joe. “the Shortfall in the coming years.” ? coming years? well fuck whens that? did someone contact the physic network on this one? Maybe next leap year on a full moon with bill clinton playing the sax to the great pumpkin. Magic 8-ball, *Reply hazy, ask again later* (which means yes to certain people.) anyways…

Dunkin Donuts is going to start selling pizza…. thats just a scary thought. they cant even get a coffee right , who knows what the fuck they would do to a pizza.

Subway, Dunkin’ give pizza a chance

By Bruce Horovitz, USA TODAY
Subway is to sandwiches what Dunkin’ is to doughnuts. So why are both chains exploring — pizza?

It’s
because fast foodies find it tough to resist sticking a gooey finger in
the $28.5 billion pizza industry at a time when the pie biggies — Pizza
Hut (YUM), Domino’s (DPZ) and Papa John’s (PZZA) — have seen growth stall.

More than a decade ago, even McDonald’s (MCD)
tested pizza before tossing in the apron. But with consumer interest in
pizza high and pizza-dominated chains’ sales lagging, the temptation to
roll out the dough is once again peaking.

Of all meals eaten at restaurants, 9% now include pizza, reports NPD Group.

“The demographic of pizza eaters is about the same as oxygen breathers,” says Steve Green, publisher of PMQ’s Pizza Magazine, a trade publication.

Recent
pizza growth has been in artisan, take-n’-bake and rising-crust pizzas,
Green says. Now, Subway and Dunkin’ think faster, smaller pizzas may
find a niche.

Subway is dishing out
personal-size pizzas at about half its stores nationally, and Dunkin’
Donuts is testing personal pizzas at 15 prototype stores in six states.

“Everyone in the industry is keeping an eye on the new entries,” says Mandy Detwiler, managing editor at Pizza Today.

Wi-Fi Health Weirdness Continues
The German Wi-Fi ban that wasn’t…
06:30PM Monday Sep 10 2007 by Karl
tags: wireless·Oddities

There’s been no solid scientific evidence that Wi-Fi is a health hazard, but that hasn’t stopped a parade of people from trying to stop Wi-Fi deployment, usually based on absolutely no evidence of any kind. In the U.S., teachers have sued schools to derail installs, while angel guidance consultants have launched campaigns against Wi-Fi in their free time.

Network Nuetrality again…

it seems after the network Neutrality issue is being dragged up again.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118910051959919525.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

From the article

Justice Department Opposes ‘Net Neutrality’

Associated Press

Word Count: 323 | Companies Featured in This Article: AT&T, Verizon Communications, Comcast

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department on Thursday said Internet service providers should be allowed to charge a fee for priority Web traffic.

The agency told the Federal Communications Commission, which is reviewing high-speed Internet practices, that it is opposed to “Net neutrality,” the principle that all Internet sites should be equally accessible to any Web user.

Several phone and cable companies, such as AT&T Inc., …

the companies want to Prioritize traffic , traffic shaping. Which in the right hands maybe a good thing. but this is not going to happen. they just want to squeeze more money out of the net. to make sites Pay for there bandwidth used on there network and create another revenue avenue.

an article from SlashDot.org http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/09/06/2329200.shtml

“I was saddened (though not surprised) to read that the Justice Department opposes net neutrality saying that it could “hamper development of the internet.” While it may seem counter-intuitive to me, they argue that allowing ISPs to provide different levels of service/speed for different content will benefit consumers. They did promise to “continue to monitor and enforce any anticompetitive conduct to ensure a competitive broadband marketplace” — not that anyone was worried about that.”

Has the DOJ looked around lately ? there is No competition , and with opposing network neutrality it would only dig this hole further. Now, if you have not traveled out the US you will not realize how badly companies have hamstringed US broadband. First off DSL which rather than upgrade to fiber the companies would rather use existing infrastructure thats aging beyond its years. years back there was an inititave that was suppose to have the US on fiber but that dissapeared. (google 200 billion rip off to find out about that). all this talk about having a “high” and “low” speed lane on the internet they want to create. ITS ALREADY HERE. Look around, low speed lanes. AOL, People PC, Net zero , etc. high speed lanes COX HSI , Verizon Fios(limited areas) , comcast , etc.

Anyways getting back to limited point of view. if you have never been outside the US , you would not believe the speed options you have , In sweden for example – For less than $20 a month you have 100mb up and 100mb down speeds. which is currently 25times faster than most ISP’s in the US , and I do discredit speedboost and light speed or whatever the hell its called because its only a speed burst.

Other counties have no problems devoloping there Internet why should we have any problem unless lobbying gets in the way…….

Overview

This isn’t the same US Airways you might remember from a few years ago. You know, the one that was in and out of bankruptcy, with chronic customer service complaints. The new US Airways is essentially America West (it merged with US Airways in 2005) flying under the US Airways name. When it comes to customer service, you are left with the impression that it is trying hard to shed its old, “couldn’t-care-less” image that US Airways worked years to develop. How is it working? Only time will tell.
